Here we will have the listing for all the current events on the schedule for Card and Board Games at Kingdom-Con 2017!

We have lots of events scheduled for Board Games this year and are excited for even more games as well!

We have a large OPEN BOARD GAME LIBRARY and an OPEN BOARD GAME ROOM where many people can check out games, or just bring your own to play with people at the convention.

We are happy to have San Diego Unpub Mini running events for local game designers, to play new games, find their tables in the Board Game Hall. Sign-Up to Run Events for UnPubMini Here!

Playtest unpublished games at Kingdom-Con!

For the first time this year, Unpub Mini San Diego will be held at Kingdom-Con! Get in on the ground floor of exciting unpublished games at the Unpub Mini San Diego event. Local board game designers will demo their new board game creations. Board game players will have the opportunity to play these games with the designers and then give feedback on the games they played. The feedback of players is of vital importance to improving and enhancing these game projects as they journey toward publication. There will also be exciting raffle prizes throughout the event.

Unpub Mini SD will be held in the Board Game Room of Kingdom-Con on Friday, April 28, from 2 – 8 p.m. and on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Join the event on Facebook to stay updated.

We are hosting a Settlers of Catan Qualifier Tournament. The Event will be on Saturday at 1pm and registration will be $10 at the door. Players are encouraged to bring their own Settlers of Catan game as well. We will have games too, but in case we need to trade wood for sheep, having extra games will be helpful.

We are excited for SoCal Thrones to be hosting multiple events this year at Kingdom-Con! They are hosting multiple events:

Event: AGOT LCG KingdomCon Team Tournament (Friday)

Game: A Game of Thrones 2nd ed. LCG

Registration: 5:00 PM

Round One: 6:00 PM

Come try out an exciting new format for Game of Thrones- Team Unified! Three-player teams will compete against each other after using a shared card pool to build their decks.  Ever wanted to remind your buddy to play the event in his hand, or ask whether to attack with Tywin or hold him back for defense? Event:  SoCal Thrones Name Day Joust (Saturday)

Game:  A Game of Thrones 2nd ed. LCG

Registration: 10:00 am – 10:45 am (decklists will be collected)

Round One:  11:00 am

Come join us at the birth place of the SoCal Thrones Meta for a special Name Day Joust tournament.  We will play an estimated 4-6 rounds (55 min.) of swiss pairings, with a cut to the top 8 (based on attendance).  As a “Road to Nationals at ETX” event, the winner will receive paid entry to the Evergreen Tabletop Expo in Seatle on June 3- 4, the site of the 2017 AGoT National Campionships! In addition to the tournament at Kingdom-Con, participants will also be able to compete in the Maester’s Challenge, completing a series of achievements to forge their chain and earn honor at the Citadel. The Drunk Quest Tournament of Champions will be returning again to Kingdom-Con! Event Details will be posted soon, but prepare yourself for adventure on Saturday Night at 9pm.

3-7 pm Gloom -In the Gloom card game, you assume control of the fate of an eccentric family of misfits and misanthropes. The goal of the game is sad, but simple: you want your characters to suffer the greatest tragedies possible before passing on to the well-deserved respite of death. The player with the lowest total Family Value wins.

3-7 pm Murder of Crows -Murder of crows invites you to be the first person to spell murder and read off your story.

3-6 pm Defenders and Deceivers: Co-op team and traitor games:

Mysterium – Unable to talk, the amnesic ghost communicates with the mediums through visions, which are represented in the game by illustrated cards. The mediums must decipher the images to help the ghost remember how he was murdered: Who did the crime? Where did it take place? Which weapon caused the death?

Shadow over Westminster – The Shadow Over Westminster is unlike any co-op deck builder you’ve ever experienced. Varying card backs allow for vastly improved strategic planning – knowing what card type is coming up next allows you and your fellow Agents to make more informed decisions.

GhostBusters – Ghostbusters: The Board Game is an episodic adventure game for one to four players, who are charged with busting ghosts and sealing gates to the Spirit World.

Evolution – Evolution packs a surprising amount of variety for a game with simple rules. The variety comes from the synergies between the trait cards and from the different personalities at the table.

Dead of Winter – Dead of Winter puts 2-5 players in a small, weakened colony of survivors in a world where most of humanity is either dead or diseased, flesh-craving monsters. Each player leads a faction of survivors with dozens of different characters in the game.

Cthulhu Pandemic – In Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu, you’ll experience the classic Pandemic gameplay with a horrific twist: that’ll have you face twelve Old Ones, each threatening the world with their unique powers.

Deception: Murder in Hong Kong -Deception: Murder in Hong Kong is a game of deduction and deception for 4-12 players that plays in about 20 minutes.

Betrayal at House on the Hill – Betrayal at House on the Hill quickly builds suspense and excitement as players explore a haunted mansion of their own design, encountering spirits and frightening omens that foretell their fate.

4-8 pm Eternal Kings – Eternal Kings is a 2 player abstract card game that utilizes chess strategy on an 8×8 board with alternating light and dark squares.

7 pm- Midnight Munchkin – Go down in the dungeon. Kill everything you meet. Backstab your friends and steal their stuff. Grab the treasure and run. First player to level 10 wins.

7 pm- Midnight Steve Jackson Open Demos– From Zombie dice to Simons Cat to Chupacabra come try one of the many great Steve Jackson games.

7 pm- Midnight Fluxx -Fluxx is a card game in which the cards themselves determine the current rules of the game. By playing cards, you change numerous aspects of the game: how to draw cards, how to play cards, and even how to win.

7 pm- Midnight Loonacy -Loonacy is a rapid fire card game in which players race to be the first to empty their hand by matching one of two images on each card in their hand with the images on the open piles in front of them.

 

7 pm- Midnight Sutakku -In this quick-playing, push-your-luck dice game, you attempt to create the tallest stack of dice in order to gain the highest score per turn. To play, roll three dice and add two of them to an ever-climbing stack of dice. You can choose to stop rolling and score your stacked dice at any time, but pushing your luck will net you more points if you succeed.

7 pm- Midnight Red Dragon Inn -You and your adventuring companions will spend the night drinking, gambling, and roughhousing. The last person who is both sober enough to remain conscious and shrewd enough to hold onto his Gold Coins wins the game.

7 pm- Midnight Battle For Greyport -Battle for Greyport is a cooperative deck-building game based on the characters and world of The Red Dragon Inn. You will travel to important locations around the city, fighting epic battles and recruiting whatever heroes and items you can along the way. Each encounter presents more opportunities to improve your deck, but also brings more dire foes for you to face!

8 pm- Midnight Blood Rage An area control war game using resource management and card drafting set in the time of the Viking myth of Ragnarok.

10 am-8 pm Andromedia Fight League & Scheming Artist – A.F.L. is a two player game that combines the best elements of Battle Cards, Tactical Board games plus the challenge of Team Drafting.

10 am-1 pm Pandemic Legacy January- February – Pandemic Legacy is a co-operative campaign game, with an overarching story-arc played through 12-24 sessions, depending on how well your group does at the game

10 am-1 pm Zombicide – Zombicide is a collaborative game in which players take the role of a survivor – each with unique abilities – and harness both their skills and the power of teamwork against the hordes of unthinking undead!

10 am-1 pm Zombicide Black Plague -Zombicide: Black Plague takes the zombie apocalypse into a fantastical medieval setting! The arcane powers of the Necromancers have unleashed a zombie invasion in the age of swords and sorcery, and it’s up to your group of straggling survivors to not only stay alive during these dark times, but to take back the realm and punish those responsible for the apocalypse!

10 am-2 pm Imperial Assault – Star Wars: Imperial Assault is a strategy board game of tactical combat and missions for two to five players, offering two distinct games of battle and adventure in the Star Wars universe!

11 am-3 pm Eternal Kings – Eternal Kings is a 2 player abstract card game that utilizes chess strategy on an 8×8 board with alternating light and dark squares.

11 am-1 pm TMNT: Shadows Of The Past Demo – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past is a scenario-driven campaign game that features story content from the IDW TMNT comic.

11 am-12 pm Fuse -FUSE is a real-time co-operative game that employs 25 dice and 65 cards. Each game is set to a ten-minute timer, and players must work together in that ten minutes to defuse all of the bombs.

Noon-5 pm Dungeon Brawl -You and your fellow adventurers have completed what you thought was a typical dungeon crawl. With the dungeon cleared and boss defeated, the treasure is yours for the taking… or so you thought. There’s a disagreement as to who gets what. Talking leads to arguing. Arguing leads to yelling. Suddenly, there’s a twinkle of light and a flash of steel. Everyone reactively jumps back, weapons at the ready. Each person eyes the other as they all stare back knowingly. There’s no turning back now. It’s now become a Dungeon Brawl.

Noon-3 pm Snow Tails -Snow Tails is set in the snowy world of the Arctic Circle, where brave sledders compete in a test of skill and endurance. Action is fast and furious and not all sleds may make it to the finish. Huskies only have one setting and that is full speed! Hang on to your furs, the reins, your sled and anything else you can get hold of.

Noon-1 pm Havok & Hijinks -Havok & Hijinks is a fast-paced, light strategy card game that pits you against your friends in a race for the first respectable treasure hoard. Each turn starts with a quest for treasure that could lead to Havok like loot-hungry adventurers or beneficial heat waves. Engage in Hijinks by stealing and breaking your friend’s shiny treasures or defending your own. When a dragon has a hoard with a value of 15 or more, it wins!

1-2 pm Chupacabra Survive the Night – In Chupacabra: Survive the Night, which includes 24 glow-in-the-dark dice, each player rolls six dice at the start of the game and uses their rolled Chupacabra to steal other players’ chickens, goats, and bulls.

1-3 pm Covert -Covert combines simple concepts with a depth of play that allows players the freedom to combine special abilities and card combos to complete their Missions and overcome obstacles. Utilize your assets. Make your move. Don’t let anyone stand in your way.

1-3 pm Co-op games with Adam & Steve: Legendary: Alien Encounters – Legendary Encounters: An Alien Deck Building Game, based on the four movies of the Alien series, is a fully cooperative game with original art.

1:30-4:30 pm Zombicide – Zombicide is a collaborative game in which players take the role of a survivor – each with unique abilities – and harness both their skills and the power of teamwork against the hordes of unthinking undead!

1:30-4:30 pm Zombicide Black Plague -Zombicide: Black Plague takes the zombie apocalypse into a fantastical medieval setting! 5-11 pm Villains & Henchmen!  &  Ravensdale Publishing – Open Play Testing -This is a (mostly) cooperative board/card game for 1-4 players, in which you acquire super powers, battle heroes, and overcome obstacles to break the super-villain out of a maximum-security prison.

5-9 pm MOD X MODX is a 2-4 player abstract strategy game that can be played in 20 minutes. It is simple to learn but provides a surprising depth of strategy!

5-9 pm Tut’s Treasure – Tut’s Treasure is a fun card and dice game for 3-5 players. To win, a player must be the first to fill their treasure tomb with eight matching treasure cards, while simultaneously buying spell cards to build their defense against players who choose to thieve. The average game is 45 minutes.

10 am-11 pm Diplomacy – A game of pre-World War I of the European campaign. You’re the leader of one of seven major powers of Europe who will be writing specific orders to each individual unit under your command throughout the game. 

10 am-11 pm Trekking the National Parks – You’ll have the opportunity to travel to the only unique site at each of the National Parks in the United States. You’ll be collecting a color stone if available and a unique park card if you have the correct trek cards and if that park card is available.

 

10 am-11 pm Pups – A trick taking card game that has a surprising twist in collecting a trick.

 

10 am-11 pm Terraforming Mars – You’ll be one of seven corporations arriving on Mars to start terraforming for human life. You’ll have a sense of reality with your choices throughout the game.

10 am-2 pm Lanterns -The harvest is in, and the artisans are hard at work preparing for the upcoming festival. Decorate the palace lake with floating lanterns and compete to become the most honored artisan when the festival begins.

But only one guild may lead in the end, so players must battle against each other as well as against the monstrous occupying forces.

11 am-3 pm XenoShyft -In XenoShyft: Onslaught, a strategic base defense deck-builder, players take on the role of the NorTec Military, charged with defending their base against the onslaught of the alien “Hive”.

11 am-1 pm Co-op games with Adam & Steve: Legend of Drizzt – Designed for 1-5 players, this board game features multiple scenarios, challenging quests, and cooperative game play.

11 am-1 pm Kitty Paw & Doggy Go -Kitty Paw is a dexterity and reaction game. Players try to be the first to complete the kitty combinations shown on the Kitty cards to score victory points. Doggy Go! is a speed game in which players try to be the first to complete the patterns on Acrobat cards with their Doggy tiles . Whoever scores the most Acrobat cards in the end wins the game.

11 am-1 pm Shiba Inu House – In Shiba Inu House, players race to place cards properly in order to create doghouses for the shiba inu that match the patterns shown on their goal cards. After eight rounds, the player with the highest score wins.

8:30 pm- Midnight Two Rooms and a Boom – In Two Rooms and a Boom – a social deduction/hidden role party game– there are two teams: the Red Team and the Blue Team. The Blue Team has a President. The Red Team has a Bomber. At the end of each round, some players will be swapped into opposing rooms. If the Red Team’s Bomber is in the same room as the President at the end of the game, then the Red Team wins; otherwise the Blue Team wins. Lying encouraged.

9-late DrunkQuest (Peacock) – The object of DrunkQuest is to level up to 6. In order to do that players must defeat monsters in Drunk Combat! Each monster has a drink value that must be taken in order to defeat it. But it’s not easy when other players are trying to stop you from defeating your monster while trying to defeat their own.

10 am-6 pm Sutakku -In this quick-playing, push-your-luck dice game, you attempt to create the tallest stack of dice in order to gain the highest score per turn. To play, roll three dice and add two of them to an ever-climbing stack of dice. You can choose to stop rolling and score your stacked dice at any time, but pushing your luck will net you more points if you succeed.

11 am-3 pm Play Me: Alice in Wonderdice -Players in Play Me: Alice in Wonderdice take the role of one of six characters from Wonderland, and everyone wants to get their hands on the White Rabbit before anyone else. To do this, you need to line up your set of six dice in ascending order first.

11 am-1 pm Kitty Paw & Doggy Go -Kitty Paw is a dexterity and reaction game. Players try to be the first to complete the kitty combinations shown on the Kitty cards to score victory points. Doggy Go! is a speed game in which players try to be the first to complete the patterns on Acrobat cards with their Doggy tiles . Whoever scores the most Acrobat cards in the end wins the game.

11 am-1 pm Shiba Inu House – In Shiba Inu House, players race to place cards properly in order to create doghouses for the shiba inu that match the patterns shown on their goal cards. After eight rounds, the player with the highest score wins.

12-2 pm Lanterns -The harvest is in, and the artisans are hard at work preparing for the upcoming festival. Decorate the palace lake with floating lanterns and compete to become the most honored artisan when the festival begins.

12-2 pm Castles of Caladale -In Castles of Caladale, players lay tiles to construct beautiful castles and rebuild the kingdom. Building the most complete and largest castle earns a player glory throughout the land!
